Conferma, the global leader in virtual card technology for business travel, has switched off fax-based virtual card delivery across more than 100 additional countries and territories, meaning hotels in these markets will now receive payment information through digital delivery methods. The move leaves the US as the final phase of Conferma’s global Ditch the Fax programme, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
Today, approximately 95% of all communications delivered through Conferma are already sent via non-fax methods. Following successful shutdowns across APAC, Europe, Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean, this latest phase extends secure digital delivery across markets in Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
Early data from the first regions where fax was retired shows an upward trend in virtual card payment completion – today ~2% higher than at the beginning of 2026.
As virtual card adoption continues to grow, how payment details are delivered matters. Fax has historically created avoidable friction, from failed transmissions and manual rekeying to time-consuming follow-up between hotels and travel management companies (TMCs). Replacing fax with secure digital delivery helps create a more consistent payment experience for hotels, TMCs, corporates, and travellers.
“Fax has remained embedded in hotel payment workflows long after most industries moved on,” said Stuart Davenport, Chief Product Officer at Conferma.
“This transition is not simply about changing a communication channel. It is about removing a manual failure point between the booking, the payment, and the traveller arriving at the hotel. Today, ~95% of payment communications across our network are already delivered digitally, demonstrating how quickly the industry has moved away from fax and towards more reliable delivery methods.”

Information for hotels
Hotels can register their property and review their communication preferences at www.confermaconnect.com. By adopting digital delivery methods and maintaining accurate communication preferences, hotels can help reduce payment friction and improve the payment experience for front desk teams and travellers.
These operational improvements are increasingly reflected in supplier performance metrics. Conferma’s Virtual Card Performance Index (VPI), a global industry benchmark for virtual card payment performance, shows that hotels with mature payment workflows consistently achieve stronger performance scores.
